Alice Flagg (from Ghost of the Hermitage) by William West
This is the next installment in the "Ghost of the Hermitage". This song introduces us to our young Heroine Alice Flagg in the spring of her 16th year (circa 1845).
She is the daughter of a prominent Planter in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. As she is coming of age, much pressure is placed on her to take her place in the planter society. Alice feels more than a little reluctant to follow her family’s wishes, even so, Alice feels that the world is her’s for the taking - hope, promise, and happiness are sure to follow....
